Fabrizio Romano, a European football transfer expert, said on the 22nd (Korean time), "Messi has verbally agreed to a contract extension with PSG. Sooner or later, Messi and PSG will meet again to discuss the contract term and salary."
Messi, who came to Paris last summer, signed a two-year contract with PSG. The existing contract period will expire next summer.
Several rumors circulated. In particular, there was talk that a return to Barcelona was likely.
Messi only played for Barcelona from 2000 to 2021 during his youth days. He has a lot of love for Barcelona.
The reason why he moved to PSG in the first place was not his will, but Barcelona's financial difficulties. Barcelona, whose financial situation has improved, now wants Messi to return.
But Messi turned down a move to Barcelona. Romano said, "Messi did not participate in negotiations with Barcelona. Barcelona were willing to sign, but before making a specific offer, Messi announced his intention to reject it."
It is known that Messi did not accept the offer of Inter Miami of the MLS (American Professional Soccer). Although he is close to retirement, he still has a strong desire to play at the top level of Europe.
However, as long as he has yet to verbally agree to an extension contract with PSG, variables remain. Spanish media 'Mundo Deportivo' predicted that "Barcelona will not give up on Messi. They will make another proposal that is not inferior to the conditions presented by PSG for a reunion with Messi."
